The BUMP in the Night

Last week, while Brad was away at Missenden Abbey for his research team retreat, a strange thing happened on Island Wall.

I was speaking to Brad on the phone, after the kids were in bed (near 11pm, actually), when I heard a very loud noise.  I thought hooligans had broken down the neighbor’s door, so I promptly closed all of our security gates over the windows.  When I finally got up the courage to look outside, I saw flashing lights, then heard sirens.  Something bad had just gone down.

I went upstairs and looked out the window and this is what I saw (forgive the horrid lighting conditions):

On our tiny little street ( not really wide enough for two cars to pass each other), there was a police car, and two fire engines.

And a car in the garden across the street.  Upside down.

Apparently, someone was driving ridiculously fast around the corner, skidded off the road into a fence, then drove (probably more-like flew) through 5 front gardens before landing upside down.  Sheds, fences, and hedges were destroyed.  Astonishingly, no one was hurt.  Quite a kerfuffle, for the little Island Wall neighborhood, though!
